  1. Sooji/Rava-150g
  2. Large/small onion-1/2cup
  3. Green-chili/Red-chili-3 or 4 
  4. Sliced Carrot-1/3cup
  5. Green Peas-1/3cup
  6. Channa dal-1/2tsp
  7. Mustard seeds
  8. Curry leaves
  9. Crushed ginger-few
  10. Oil-4tsp
  11. Salt-to taste
  12. Water-3cups


  • Heat a non-stick pan and add oil.Heat comes in oil add mustard seeds ,channa dal,oions and green/red-chili.

  • Onion comes in golden brown add sliced carrot and peas.Wait for 6mins.
  • After add 3cups of water,salt and crushed ginger.

  • Slowly add the sooji/rava in boiling water and mix well.

  • Add some oil on top of the sooji/rava upma.
  • Hot and serve with "coconut chuttney,garlic pickel,toor dal sambar and sugar".
