Medhu Vadai (Balls)-2012 Pongal Varieties

Medhu vadai is a traditional South Indian fried snacks originating mainly from Tamil Nadu and Karnataka,traditionally prepared during festivals and weddings.This lentil based item is often served along with breakfast item like Idli,Pongal,Sambar etc.Medhu vadai is one of the most favorite snacks.Every one like this medhu vadas.Medhu Vada served with curd and sambar.I am prepared the medhu vadai balls.

Ingredients:
  1. Urad dal-1cup
  2. Raw Rice/Idli Rice-50g
  3. Onion-1/2cup(chopped)
  4. Cumin seeds-1/2tsp
  5. Pepper Corns-1tsp
  6. Green chili-6(chopped)
  7. Curry leaves-1strand
  8. Ginger-few(chopped)
  9. Salt-to taste
  10. Water-few
  11. Oil-for frying
Grind:
  • Place the urad dal in a bowl,add idli rice,water and soak for minimum 6hrs. After 6hrs soak and wash the urad dal and raw rice. 
  • In a blender,drop the urad dal and raw rice,add little water and blend in a smooth and thick paste. 
  • The dough float on water is a correct consistency.
  •  Add cumin seeds,green chili,curry leaves,ginger,salt,onion,pepper corns mix all these ingredients well.
                 
  • Deep fry in the oil and turn it is golden brown.
  • Hot and serve with "Sambar and Curd".
