Every South Indian people to prepare this recipe in home.This is one of the neivediyam in Prayers.Broad Beans poriyal is a good combination of boiled rice and rasam rice etc.U can buy this vegetable in Indian Grocery Store.I loved this broad beans recipe.
Ingredients:- Avarakai/Broad Beans-2cups
- Onion-1/2cup
- Tomato-1/2
- Red-chili Powder-1 1/2tsp
- Turmeric Powder-1/2tsp
- Coriander Powder-1tsp
- Shred Coconut-1/4cup
- Coriander Leaves
- Mustard Seeds
- Curry Leaves
- Salt-to taste
- Water
- Oil-2tsp
Method:
- Soak and wash the broad beans/avarakkai in water.Remove the veins on the side.
- Cut the avarakkai/Broad Beans into small pieces.
- Soak and wash the broad beans/avarakkai in water.
- Take a pressure cooker,put the washed avarakkai,finely chopped onions,tomatoes,all powders,salt, add some amount of water mix and cover it.(do not add too much water).
- Close the lid and pressure it for up to 2 or 3 whistles.
- Heat a pan,add 2tsp of oil,mustard seeds and curry leaves.
- After popping the seeds add boiled broad beans/avarakkkai and fry well.
- Finally add shred coconut ,coriander leaves and mix well.After switch off the flame.
- Hot and serve with "Boiled Rice,Curd Rice,Rasam Rice,Dosa".
